Umbagog Bronzeback by Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust

According to prophecy, Dunbarton's Mi Querida cigar begot the Umbagog; and the Umbagog begot the Umbagog Bronzeback. That's right, seven years after Steve Saka first unveiled the Umbagog—a premium smoke for the everyman—he has now introduced the Umbagog Bronzeback as a fine-tuned spinoff! Like the Mi Querida and Umbagog cigars before it, the Bronzeback is a Nicaraguan-focused smoke topped with a gritty Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper (i.e. Saka's specialty). However, the Bronzeback has been made as a nod to Broadleaf-wrapped classics from the '80s and '90s, making use of a 2LS selection of Connecticut Broadleaf, which is harvested from the 1/3 to 1/2 mark on the plant.

Differing from the cocoa and earth-forward experience that hobbyists have become accustomed to, the 2LS Broadleaf is less sweet but significantly more peppery... When combined with a choice selection of Nicaraguan leaves throughout the binder and filler, the Dunbarton Umbagog Bronzeback cigar offers a surprisingly balanced, medium-plus (or medium-plus-plus?) experience from start to finish. Expect a solid flavor core from first light, opening up with loam and toasted oak before ramping up the spice through the retrohale around the one-inch mark.
