Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Box-pressed Sungrown
Taking a close look at the Perdomo Cigars collection, you'll notice an incredible consistency, with each and every brand consisting of three varieties: Connecticut, Sun Grown, and Maduro. And while this had been the case with the company's popular Champagne collection, company owner, Nick Perdomo Jr, felt that the series' Noir (Maduro) and Sun Grown (Natural) varieties needed more attention, as these cigars formerly offered mere wrapper tweaks on the fan-favorite Champagne Connecticut blend.
For the natural-wrapped variety, this vision has been realized with the Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Box-Pressed Sun Grown. This blend now takes on a life of its own, being completely reworked to allow each component of the recipe to operate harmoniously. This includes the selection of all-Nicaraguan tobaccos, each being harvested from the Perdomo family's fields throughout Nicaragua. Nicaraguan Cuban-seed tobaccos have been chosen for the wrapper, binder, and filler, with the sun-grown wrapper undergoing a secondary fermentation in used bourbon barrels for 10 months before the cigars are rolled. This brings out the full potential of the select leaves, offering smokers a medium/full body and rich smoking characteristics practically unheard of in such an affordable price range. Expect maintenance-free smoking sessions, filled to the brim with flavors of roasted almonds, cinnamon, freshly carved cedar, red pepper, rye bread, and sweet caramel.

When you take it out of the cello you get hints of rum raisin and the smooth velvety feel of the wrapper leaf makes holding the cigar in your hand for a few hours a pleasure. I’ve smoked about a box now and each had a perfect draw every time with volumes of smoke production. Let’s not forget the most important part, the flavors. For me the rum raisin carries through, along with flavors like caramel and slight oak sweetness. The super toro is perfect size because this is a smoke you don’t want to end. I also enjoy the epicure because I do think the torpedo shape makes a unique smoking experience with this label. This is a cigar I like to keep in my humidor to make those everyday moments special.
