Diamond Crown Maximus
Ten years after J.C. Newman introduced the now-famed Diamond Crown cigar (what some refer to as the first "super premium" cigar), the company headed back to the drawing board, introducing the Diamond Crown Maximus in 2005 as a dark and fuller-bodied accompaniment.
For this special project, the Newman family teamed up with two of the most respected cigar families in the industry: Fuente and Oliva. For their contributions, the Fuentes offer not only their prized Dominican tobaccos but the handling of production from start to finish. Meanwhile, the cigar's signature sun-grown Sumatra-seed wrapper comes from the Oliva family's fields of Ecuador.
It's safe to say that the J.C. Newman Diamond Crown Maximus cigar was a success, remaining one of the most popular maduro selections in humidors to this day. As the saying goes, you need quality ingredients for a quality result, and the Diamond Crown Maximus is proof positive! By today's standards, the Maximus is medium-plus to medium-full in body, offering deep and long-lasting flavors for the maduro maniac, including standout notes of leather, dark cocoa, toasted oak, and bittersweet espresso through the finish.
