In 2003, La Flor Dominican introduced a cigar that is not only considered one of their most beloved releases, but one of the most respected cigars—period—in the modern era of premium cigars. The cigar at hand is the LFD Double Ligero which is often considered partially responsible for launching the fuller-bodied smoking style that dominates humidors today.
As you may or may not know, ligero is classified as the highest priming on tobacco plants. This makes for a small yet potent leaf, producing more oils than other primings to protect itself from the added sunlight it receives. Although I never got sick it left a pretty charred taste on your palate if you were not use to powerful smoke. I still go back and revisit the LFD's it brings me back to my first year of smoking cigars.
