Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper
The casual cigar smoker would be forgiven for assuming Alec Bradley—among the most popular premium cigar brands in the States—is named after its creator. The name is actually an amalgam of Alan Rubin's (owner of Alec Bradley Cigar Co.) two sons, Alec and Bradley Rubin. While the two were far from smoking age when the company debuted during the great cigar boom of the '90s, they have since joined the company full time, not only aiding in the juggernaut that their father created, but now working on a few projects of their own!
The Rubins' craft-based operation is fittingly dubbed Alec & Bradley. The brand kicked off in 2018 with the cult hit Blind Faith cigar. But the sophomore release—Gatekeeper—has been quick to open doors for the aspiring duo. This is due, in part, to the cigar's manufacturing partner—being rolled at the famed Tabacalera La Alianza factory in the Dominican Republic under the watchful eye of Master Blender Ernesto Perez-Carrillo (a.k.a. the "godfather of boutique cigars").
Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper is unlike anything in parent company Alec Bradley's portfolio. The Gatekeeper begins with a reddish-hued Ecuadorian Habano wrapper; this leaf is secured over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers of Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. This recipe combines to showcase a bright and lively experience, bursting onto the palate with flavors of graham cracker, caramel, roasted nuts, and a backing floral sweetness.

I wasn't a huge fan of the first one so I was hoping this experience would be better. I was not disappointed. Everything was top notch. The burn, the presentation, and the blend of tobaccos were all done with the customers in mind. This is one cigar that will keep me trying Alec and Bradley's releases
