DTT-EX-127
"DTT-EX-127 is an experimental blend that is a bench sample utilizing tobaccos from a sample crop of a new Habanesis tripa seed varietal grown in the Jalapa Valley of Nicaragua first harvested in January 2021.
Grown from seeds smuggled in the lining of the leather belt of a Cuban farmer – the whole story is quite unbelievable involving theft, clandestine meetings and absurd negotiations, cash money in a bag, yet true and regretfully I cannot share many details as I do not want to implicate the smuggler.
Included within the liga are 3 full leaves of this new varietal between the base seco, the viso and a ligero all grown at a farm in the heart of the Jalapa Valley with just a splash of “penny” seedleaf added for a touch of pepper. This yet to be officially named leaf is undisputedly the star due to its unique flavor profile: think of a Mexican Chocolate flavor with a distinct sweet cinnamon back note on the palate. Overall medium plus in body, the DTT-EX-127 is smooth, rich, and unique with just the right touch of spice.
This is my first liga utilizing this new filler crop, but it will not be my last."
