Wasabi was originally released in 2016 as part of Espinosa Premium Cigars' special Backroom Series, where unique blends became available strictly to Espinosa-branded lounges across the country. It wasn't long before the reviews poured in, with Wasabi suddenly appearing on the radar of collectors and enthusiasts across the country.
The cigars are the creation of Héctor Alfonso Sr., Director of Operations for Espinosa Premium Cigars and blender of many Espinosa projects. For Wasabi, the goal was to create a new experience that stood out from the pack, with a profile unlike the mellow candela cigars smokers are familiar with. For starters, Wasabi is box-pressed, a format you'll be hard-pressed to find on a candela-wrapped cigar. But it's the top-secret blend that really sets the cigar apart, described by Espinosa as a "spicy candela," known to pack a creative profile of white pepper, lemon grass, bell pepper, barnyard hay, and fresh jalapeños!
