Luciano Mas Igneus

Premium cigars and wine—we've all attempted the pairing, but unless you really know what you're doing, things can go awry rather quickly. Sure, there are helpful rules of thumb (like matching the color of the wrapper with the light/darkness of the wine), but even still there are just too many variables at play.

This is where Luciano Cigars comes in, with co-founder Luciano Meirelles combining his passions for cigars and wine to introduce the ACE Prime Mas Igneus cigar. You see, Luciano is a partner in the Mas Igneus winery, located in the Priorat region of Spain. After creating a wine to suit one of his cigars, he flipped the script and built a cigar to pair with the winery's “M” wine.

But Luciano didn't simply rely on his expert palate to accomplish the task. Instead, he went with a more scientific route, chemically matching the pH levels of the cigar's filler tobaccos with the wine. This allows for perfect symmetry of acidity and alkalinity between the two, making for a clean transition that allows the flavors to take center stage. The Luciano Mas Igneus cigar consists of an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper, a Brazilian binder, and all-Nicaraguan fillers. The best part is that the cigar pairs well with other wines as well, including hearty choices such as Malbecs, cabernet sauvignon, Grenaches, shiraz and Bordeaux.

No longer is the wine/cigar pairing an enigma... with Mas Igneus' medium-full body catering the palate to meaty complexities of oak, peppered steak, mineral-rich soil, and prune-like fruit through the finish.
