La Sirena Original
La Sirena Cigars is a boutique brand owned and managed by father-daughter duo Danny and Arielle Ditkowich, taking on a mermaid theme (as La Sirena translates) from Arielle, the face of the brand.
While the company launched in 2009, major changes were made in 2014, moving the eponymous La Sirena (aka La Sirena Original) cigar's production to Erik Espinosa's burgeoning La Zona factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. This small yet energetic factory allowed La Sirena to tweak the recipe to the evolving needs of their fan base, brining a more hands on approach to the manufacturing process.
With the updated blend, the La Sirena cigar incorporates a rare Nicaraguan Habano oscuro wrapper, secured over a Nicaraguan Criollo binder and a triple-ligero filler from the Jalapa and Condega growing regions of Nicaragua. Additionally, the blend is said to include Espinosa's top secret magic leaf, adding "an additional layer of complexity." Overall, the cigar is medium-plus in intensity, offering zesty components of peppered toast, cabinet spice, raw cocoa, and cream through the finish.

DEDaniel Engel - La Sirena King Poseidon Gran ToroUnfortunately this cigar wasn't in my wheelhouse. The draw was great. But in my opinion it was a little heavy in the spice. Pepper and zest were definitely there. If you like cigars with that kind of profile, this is for you. Another COTM cigar from September.
