In the early 1900s, Sarzedas earned the simple but telling nickname “The Aromatic Cigar,” a label that spoke to presence as much as taste. Reviving that name more than a century later, J.C. Newman looks back to the good old days, aiming to reconnect with a style of cigar that once defined elegance through fragrance and balance rather than sheer power.
The modern Sarzedas cigar is produced at J.C. Newman’s PENSA factory in Nicaragua. It features a silky Ecuadorian shade wrapper over tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The blend was built to highlight aroma and flavor interplay, staying true to the spirit of the original while using contemporary tobacco selection and construction.
Once lit, Sarzedas immediately lives up to its name. The smoke opens with a fragrant sweetness, followed by notes of toasted bread, soft florals, cedar, and a gentle baking spice. A creamy texture carries hints of honeyed grain and light earth, while the aroma remains expressive both on the palate and in the room. KSKevin Shahan - JC Newman Sarzedas ToroThis isnt a traditional cigar its also not a traditionally nontraditional cigar The cap is sweetened and right from the getgo you get a sweet vanilla flavor Around the tail end of the first third or so the sweetness is almost gone and you get to experience the tobaccos that make up this blend The predominant note is cedar throughout the remainder of the cigar If you are prone to retrohaling be careful with this one itll make your eyes water Id pick up a 5pack to see if this is up your alley before purchasing a full box But its definitely a cigar worth trying
