Introducing the H. Upmann Grupo de Maestros Connecticut, an anniversary-themed cigar that contains both the soft, creamy nuances that smokers crave from a good Connecticut, all the while delivering a sneaky kick of strength not normally found in such a blend.
The cigars are crafted by Altadis' (parent company of H. Upmann) most elite team of cigar artisans—a collective known as the "Grupo de Maestros." This group (aka "grupo") contains roughly 300 years combined tobacco experience between its members. In addition, the team has collaborated on H. Upmann Grupo de Maestros Connecticut with Rafael Nodal, known for modern hits such as Aging Room, Swag, and La Bohème. Together, they have created a unique smoking experience in commemoration of H. Upmann's 175th anniversary (officially recognized in 2019).
The cigars begin with a golden-hued Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper. This leaf is secured over a Dominican binder and fillers of Nicaragua and the DR. Included in the blend is a proprietary Pilotico leaf grown by the famed Mendez family of tobacco growers. This leaf is said to give the cigar its signature strength kick, offering a ramped up version of the classic Connecticut style. Expect a medium-plus body, loaded with flavors of white and black pepper, barnyard hay, black tea, creamy coffee, and a touch of vanilla on the finish.

NFNicholas Fatino - H. Upmann Grupo de Maestros Connecticut ToroFull disclosure. Is this my favorite Connecticut cigar? No. But it is in my top 5. Worthy of 5 stars. It goes well with a morning coffee. Even better with a (product placement ahead) Smoke Inn Cappucino. It’s a good looking, great tasting cigar.
