After becoming Master Blender for Drew Estate in 2014, all eyes were on Willy Herrera. Herrera began his craft at the famed El Titan de Bronze boutique factory in Little Havana. His inaugural release of Herrera Esteli not only received rave reviews, but also took the number-eight spot in Cigar Aficionado's top-25 . Scoring a whopping 94pts at the time, it was the highest Cigar Aficionado score ever given to a cigar made by Drew Estate. Slingshoting off of the success of his first release under the Drew Estate, Willy went on to blend the Herrera Esteli Norteno.
These premium hand-rolled cigars use only the finest handpicked filler tobaccos from the Estelí and Jalapa growing regions of Nicaragua, and are then bound by a robust Honduran binder and then elegantly wrapped with a oily Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. This full-bodied premium is rich with bold notes of pepper, cocoa, nougat, cashew, nuts, and coffee. Norteño again dazzled enthusiasts and critics alike and Herrera found another one of his blends making Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 list again in 2016 at spot #7! San Andres always has a ton of flavor but the key is how they blend it to control the spice. The Norteno does a great job of of allowing the spice through without burning . This can be retrohaled with ease and taste great.
