Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Edicion de Anniversario
In 2006, 30 years after Carlos Fuente, Sr. introduced the famed Arturo Fuente Don Carlos cigar, Carlos "Carlito" Fuente, Jr. set out to honor his father with a new twist on the iconic cigar. The project was dubbed Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario, offering a new take on the venerable blend by swapping the cigar's African Cameroon wrapper for the Dominican shade-grown leaf used on Carlito's own Fuente Fuente OpusX cigar.
Along with the wrapper change, Carlito made slight tweaks to the filler blend as well, significantly boosting the cigar's strength and flavor output. The resulting blend consists entirely of Dominican tobaccos, all of which are aged until the cigars meet Carlito's strict standards. The original Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario cigar—bearing the year 2006 on the sub-band—was not formally debuted until 2008, allowing two years of added age before the cigar's release. The 2007 edition was not released until 2012 (containing an amazing five years age at the time of release), and the 2008 edition hit the market in 2013. In addition, the Fuente family has been known to re-release any of the former vintages on special occasions (as well as new iterations of the blend), containing more age and becoming more sought-after with each release.
Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario cigars are among the most treasured blends produced by the legendary Fuente family, providing a rare look at what can be accomplished when the family's most prized tobaccos are meticulously blended and aged to perfection.

A little too strong for my palate, however, the burn and the draw were excellent. Grab them when available because they don't last long on the shelves.
